River deltas are among the most valuable and most vulnerable landscapes on Earth. This lecture reviews the current state of the art in delta science, examines the emerging threats deltas face — from sediment starvation and subsidence to sea-level rise and human pressure — and presents the role of DELTA-Hub in advancing research and management of the Danube Delta and deltas worldwide.

The lecture is open to students, researchers, and everyone interested in delta science.
